Almost as soon as we got engaged in February\/March, I started looking for engagement photographers. At the time that I was searching, I knew that the wedding would be in St. Pete, so I was looking for just the engagement session. I used WeddingWire, Google, The Knot, and Facebook to look for potential photographers.<\/p>\n
My process for evaluation was to assess the photographers on:<\/p>\n
At first, I just contacted many photographers, and then once their responses came back I placed them all on a spreadsheet listing their name, website, pricing, pros\/cons, and other comments I noticed at the time of searching.<\/p>\n
Once I had responses, I consulted Brighton, showing him the options. He was a lot more picky that I was about this than I anticipated. He’s an artist, and I just think he has a sense about things like this. Though we are on a budget, we did not go with the least expensive option. We went with someone who\u00a0had experience, and we liked his portfolio creativity and diversity.<\/p>\n
I was very happy with our decision to go with David Newkirk<\/a>.<\/p>\n He was professional, fun, and quick! I booked him in March (?), for a May shoot. I wasn’t sure where I wanted to go, so he had some ideas in mind. I was also concerned about having green scenery and mountains in the background.<\/p>\n In the week leading up to the shoot, I wasn’t feeling the location he had sent me based on the shots he sent. I couldn’t articulate what I wanted, so I sent him shots from a location I liked that another photographer had gone.<\/p>\n I am so glad that I spoke up about this, because our location was just pure gold.<\/p>\n We met up at Tibble Fork Reservoir\/Silver Lake<\/a> in American Fork Canyon.<\/p>\n
