After discussing a couple options with Martina, we chose Oeschinen Lake in Kandersteg, near Adelboden.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Oeschinensee Lake,adventure,anniversary trip,bern,europe,european vacation,hiking,switzerland,\" src=\"http:\/\/nextstopadventure.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/2018-07-28_0006.jpg\" alt=\"Oeschinensee Lake,adventure,anniversary trip,bern,europe,european vacation,hiking,switzerland,\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The lake is well-known among the locals of the Bernese Oberland, but less known among tourists. It&#8217;s also part of the\u00a0Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn\u00a0UNESCO World Heritage Site. At an elevation of 5,177 ft, the alpine lake is fed by glacier waters and the Swiss Alps surround the area.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Hike to Oeschinen Lake<\/h3>\n<p>From the top of the gondola station, you take the path on the right that directs you to the lake. The walk down to the lake took about 15-20 minutes.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"font-family: 'PT Serif', serif; font-size: 14px;\" title=\"Oeschinensee Lake,adventure,anniversary trip,bern,europe,european vacation,hiking,switzerland,\" src=\"http:\/\/nextstopadventure.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/2018-07-28_0002.jpg\" alt=\"Oeschinensee Lake,adventure,anniversary trip,bern,europe,european vacation,hiking,switzerland,\" \/><\/h3>\n<p>If you&#8217;re unsure, follow the yellow signs to direct you on the right path. You can also skip the gondola and have a hike up to the top which takes significantly more time, but would be great for a day-hike!\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Oeschinensee Lake,adventure,anniversary trip,bern,europe,european vacation,hiking,switzerland,\" src=\"http:\/\/nextstopadventure.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/2018-07-28_0009.jpg\" alt=\"Oeschinensee Lake,adventure,anniversary trip,bern,europe,european vacation,hiking,switzerland,\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Since we wanted to make the most of our last day in Switzerland, we did a quick trip up to the lake. Once we walked around admiring the color and waiting for the clouds pass (no clouds\/blue sky = better color of the lake), we hiked back up to the gondola station. (By the way, this was Hike 19\/52!)<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Oeschinensee Lake,adventure,anniversary trip,bern,europe,european vacation,hiking,switzerland,\" src=\"http:\/\/nextstopadventure.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/2018-07-28_0012.jpg\" alt=\"Oeschinensee Lake,adventure,anniversary trip,bern,europe,european vacation,hiking,switzerland,\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"font-family: 'PT Serif', serif; font-size: 14px;\" title=\"Oeschinensee Lake,adventure,anniversary trip,bern,europe,european vacation,hiking,switzerland,\" src=\"http:\/\/nextstopadventure.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/2018-07-28_0007.jpg\" alt=\"Oeschinensee Lake,adventure,anniversary trip,bern,europe,european vacation,hiking,switzerland,\" \/><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Alpine Slide (Rodelbahn Oeschinensee)<\/h3>\n<p>There was a sign for an alpine slide, and checked the pricing for one ride\u2014 5 CHF, what a steal! We jumped into line and got out the 360 camera. Check out our viedo of the ride <a href=\"https:\/\/photos.app.goo.gl\/K1jN314cBfCckMtD9\">here<\/a>!\u00a0 It was a simple fun ride while we enjoyed the view of the mountains.
