REI 1440 Project

I know I’m super late to the party on this one, but I stumbled across this REI 1440 Project on Twitter, and I love it!

celebrating outdoors

It’s about celebrating every minute spent outdoors. There are 1440 minutes in the day, and the site catalogues the photos people submit into the minute that it was taken so you can see the outdoors loving people have done for all 1440 minutes of each day, every day. According to their site, this is their description of the project.

REI HAS CREATED A MINUTE-BY-MINUTE TIMELINE
MAKING UP A 24-HOUR PERIOD. OUR GOAL IS TO
FILL EACH AND EVERY MINUTE OF THIS “VIRTUAL DAY”
(ALL 1440 OF THEM) WITH PHOTOGRAPHY REPRESENTING
OUR COLLECTIVE LOVE OF OUTSIDE.

Submit your favorite photos taken while enjoying the
outdoors and we’ll place it in the timeline based on
the time it was shot.

I think this is a beautiful way to use social media to connect adventure/outdoor lovers throughout the world. It makes me happy to see there are so many others in the world that love spending outdoors in a variety of ways whether it be backpacking, hiking, adventure photography, hammocking, rock climbing, cycling, swimming, etc.

Check it out and start submitting!
